Xie Zhi Private Vocational High School of Business and Industry in Chiayi County (commonly referred to as Xie Zhi, Xie Zhi Business and Industry, or Xie Zhi Vocational High School) was a private technical senior high school in Minxiong Township, Chiayi County, Taiwan. Established in 1970, the school ceased student admissions in 2019. In May 2021, the board of directors decided to donate the school premises free of charge to National Chung Cheng University. After the last cohort of students graduated in August 2022, the school officially closed. The website is still working: https://w3.ccivs.cyc.edu.tw/, so FB.

Backyard

It’s a shame because it offered practical subjects such as auto repair, tourism, fashion style and computer science.

According to some reports, National Chung Cheng University later planned to reorganize the site into its Xie Zhi Campus using self-raised funds. However, no ongoing projects are currently visible. The 6-hectare (approx. 15-acre) campus, valued at nearly NT$2 billion, was initially planned to be donated free of charge to National Chung Cheng University. However, the deal has now collapsed. In 2021, its board of directors decided to donate the NT$2 billion, 6-hectare property to National Chung Cheng University, with the university planning to fund the renovation itself. However, the donation deal has now fallen through. National Chung Cheng University stated that restoring the Xie Zhi campus and renovating its aging buildings would cost at least NT$100 million (approx. USD 3.2 million). Without financial assistance from central or local government resources, the university is unable to bear such a substantial expense. (中天新聞網, 2025年2月17日)

It is a traditionally styled university with numerous buildings and annexes, a large sports field with a grandstand for mass events, and a swimming hall. Separated by a road, there is an additional section of the school.

It remains in very good condition, with doors and windows securely closed. Some interior furnishings are clearly visible from the outside. However, the courtyard appears to be used for the illegal storage of cars, all of which lack license plates.

The area is under camera surveillance.

Technical facilities are exposed to decay. The toilets are still present.

The Chiayi District Court, Taiwan, made its final announcement about the liquidation process on January 18, 2024. The decision to dissolve the school was made due to changes in the population structure, the impact of declining birth rates on student intake, and deteriorating student quality, which no longer aligned with the original founding principles. The school had failed to meet the educational goals outlined in its charter. The decision to dissolve was made during the 17th session, 2nd board meeting on May 18, 2023.
